Navigation. Obstacles. AI. NOA is your mobility companion

NOA is an all-in-one vest for people with blindness and low vision. It's a vest worn on the shoulders, with wide-angle cameras on the left of your chest, a small computer on the right, and a battery behind your neck. It's like wearing a mini-Tesla on your shoulders. It identifies dangers, guides you, and describes your surroundings with AI. All of that in less than 2 pounds.

What is NOA?

Navigation: NOA provides precise GPS navigation instructions in bone-conduction headphones, turn-by-turn. NOA's GPS supports O&M rules, such as minimizing the number of intersections. It specifically describes where crosswalks are, or the angle of your upcoming turn.

Obstacle: NOA has 3 cameras, to replicate the field of view of the human eye. It can even see in the dark. The cameras warn about obstacles such as low-hanging branches, holes, electric scooters, or traffic signs, with "beeps" in headphones. Powered by self-driving car software jointly developed with Honda Research Institute.

AI: Simply press the button on the right of the vest to get a more precise description of your surroundings. Based on your intent, NOA describes how to cross the street, how to exit a place, where stairs are... Powered by the latest generative AI technology.

Testimonials

I honestly don't think I have ever purchased anything that has so much potential to be life-changing.
Stuart Beveridge from Seescape
I truly loved it. I talked to some students about what kind of device would be most useful to them. You basically made that.
Alexandra from Birmingham
From all the technologies we have tested, NOA is probably the best obstacle detection system
Stephan from SZBlind, Switzerland

NOA is a complement to white canes and guide dogs. It was developed with over 250 beta-testers, low-vision professionals, O&M trainers, and the ophthalmic hospital Jules Gonin in Switzerland. It took biped's team 3 years of research & development and a world-first collaboration with Honda Research Institute to come to life.

NOA was designed with orientation and mobility specialists from the ground up. We designed NOA as a complement, that does not interfere with the white cane technique. We also created a smartphone application that allows O&M trainers to visualize, in real time, what NOA generates: obstacle location, GPS instructions, and AI descriptions. O&M trainers get access to dedicated training material.
